Beginners Help
Welcome to the wonderful onomatopoeic world of wikis. Here we'll go over some of the basics:
Linking to other articles
To link to another article, simply put it's name in square brackets. That would produce square brackets.
The reason the link is red, is that there isn't an article there yet (click and see). If it's blue, some smart-arse has put an article there.
To link to a Category (such as Category:Pokémon, you put :Category:name. If you don't put in that first colon, it puts the page into the category instead.
You don't need to know any special code to edit a wiki; if you're not sure how to do something, find an article with the thing in, edit it, and copy/paste the thing. Like Templates.
You can change the text that gets displayed by using the pipe character: |
So to change the link to Category:Pokémon to just Pokémon, you'd go Pokémon.
This works for normal links too: Useless fish pokémon produces Useless fish pokémon.
Templates
A lot of WikiDex info is in templates, but only because they look nicer that way.
To go to a template page, instead of just putting the article's name in the address bar, you put Template:name. Likewise to link to it, it's Template:name. Linking to an article doesn't do anything special like with categories, it's just a link.
To use a template, there are usually instructions on the template's page (for example, Template:Infobox-Area.
Templates are sort of like frameworks; we write the code out, then put variables in that change depending on what's written on the page (inside the templatey bit that you have to copy/paste).
Policies
Because this wiki is for Pokémon Treasures data, any pokémon not made or approved my our staff will be deleted.
If you want a cameo, use the UncomCameo template. If you register an account, you can put it on your user page :D
